When it comes to “getting away from it all,” Americans are likely to leave expensive trips overseas and choose to enjoy many more amazing places in the comfort of their own car.
If you’re planning a trip, remember that travel by road may be difficult for cars, and a few things can turn your vacation into a nightmare faster than getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. So, before you load the car and take off, make sure your vehicle is in good condition.
A pre-trip inspection as part of your general maintenance program can give help avoid costly repairs.
Inspect and repair, if necessary, the following:
• Radiator and cooling system, including the water pump, fan and thermostat
• Check the brake pads and brake linings
• Cables and Battery
• Belts and Hoses
• Engine oil and oil filter
• The wiper and washer –
• Tire pressure and tire in general (including the spare).
• Above all, do not travel a long trip with “check engine light car” on.
Keep an eye on this light. Several states fight against air pollution. This is designed to tell you if something is going wrong in your car or if there is a problem with you air pollution exhaust. The helps with your gas mileage and can reduce the life of your engine and lead to a lot of expensive repairs.
If the light turns on just check service manual for your vehicle can often identify the problem and a course of action.
Those who take their car to a mechanic, often find that they use a diagnostic tool to analyze their vehicles and problems of access codes for a cost of $ 55 to $ 100.
A new car tool, a Web site, allows consumers to manage their own diagnosis, enabling them to check the mechanical assessment.
CarMd, the tool provides an overview of the problems associated with systems likely the car and electronic emissions. It incorporates the same basic technology as tools used by mechanics, but they say less expensive and can be exploited by anyone. A green light indicates that all systems are “go”, a yellow light indicates a possible problem and a red light means there is a current problem and service is required.
For more in-depth information, simply connect the tool on your computer and turn it on. It connects to the website of the company and produce a full report on the health of your vehicle, including potential problems, solutions and estimated repair costs.
